Privacy Policy

A clear account of what Certoga processes, why it is needed, how it is protected, and the choices available to you.

Effective date: June 15, 2026

Section 1

Scope and overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Certoga handles information when you visit the website, configure a practice session, answer practice questions, save favorite certifications, or otherwise use the service. It applies to Certoga's website, certification pages, provider pages, practice exam interface, and related server endpoints.

Certoga is designed to work without requiring an account. We do not ask you to submit a name, postal address, payment information, or certification-provider credentials to use the current service.

Section 2

Information we process

The current version of Certoga processes a limited amount of information needed to provide and protect the service.

  • Practice session data: the selected certification, difficulty, question count, timer choice, question identifiers, and submitted answer selections. This data is used to create and grade the requested session.
  • Local preferences: favorite certification identifiers are stored in your browser's local storage under the key certoga-favorite-certifications. This preference remains on your device until you remove it, clear site data, or reset the browser.
  • Technical request data: hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically process information such as IP address, browser and device type, requested URL, timestamps, response status, and security-related logs.
  • Communications: if you email us, we receive the information included in your message, such as your email address and any details you choose to provide.

Section 3

How we use information

  • Deliver randomized practice questions and grade submitted answers.
  • Remember favorites on the same browser and device.
  • Maintain service reliability, diagnose errors, and prevent abuse or unauthorized access.
  • Respond to legal, privacy, support, or security communications.
  • Comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
  • Understand aggregate service performance where infrastructure-level metrics are available.

Section 4

Cookies and local storage

Certoga's current application code does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or behavioral advertising technologies. The favorites feature uses browser local storage, which is technically different from a cookie but can retain a preference on your device.

Your hosting provider or security layer may use strictly necessary technologies to deliver pages, balance traffic, detect abuse, or maintain security. You can clear Certoga preferences through your browser's site-data controls. Disabling browser storage may prevent favorites from being retained but does not prevent normal practice sessions.

Section 5

Legal bases for processing

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to provide the service you request, based on our legitimate interests in operating and securing Certoga, to comply with legal obligations, or with your consent where consent is specifically requested. We balance legitimate interests against the rights and reasonable expectations of users.

Section 6

Disclosure of information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose limited information to service providers that host, secure, monitor, or support Certoga, subject to appropriate contractual or legal protections.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the public, investigate fraud or security incidents, enforce our agreements, or support a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or transfer of service assets. Any successor would remain subject to applicable privacy obligations.

Section 7

Retention

Practice answers are processed to return the result of the current session. Certoga does not currently provide user accounts or a server-side personal score history. Favorite selections remain in local storage on your device until you remove them.

Infrastructure and security logs may be retained for a limited period appropriate to operational, security, fraud-prevention, and legal needs. Email communications may be retained while needed to resolve the request, maintain appropriate business records, or meet legal obligations.

Section 8

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, loss, or misuse. No online service or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, browser, and network connection.

If you believe you have identified a security or privacy issue, contact legal@certoga.com and avoid including sensitive personal information unless it is necessary to describe the issue.

Section 9

International processing

Certoga and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data protection laws. Where required, we use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers and require service providers to protect information consistently with applicable law.

Section 10

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection regarding personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to appeal a denied request or complain to a local data protection authority.

Because Certoga currently operates without user accounts and stores favorites locally, we may hold little or no information that can reasonably be linked to you. We may need to verify a request before acting on it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Section 11

Children's privacy

Certoga is a general-audience educational service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Certoga, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.

Section 12

Third-party services and trademarks

Certoga may identify certification providers, examination organizations, products, and technologies for educational and descriptive purposes. All third-party names, exam codes, product names, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply affiliation, authorization, sponsorship, or endorsement. Third parties do not control this Privacy Policy, and Certoga is not responsible for privacy practices on their websites or services.

Section 13

Policy changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect service changes, legal requirements, or improved practices. Material revisions will be identified by a new effective date on this page. Your continued use after an update is subject to the revised policy.

For privacy questions or rights requests, email legal@certoga.com. Please describe the request clearly and identify the jurisdiction relevant to your request. Do not send passwords, government identifiers, payment-card data, or certification-provider credentials.
